Consoles: Pt.1 (Retro Consoles)
Videogames have been around for a pretty long time. The first one ever (in the FPS category) being Wolfenstein 3D. The game was about a guy named Blazkowicz who, during WWII escapes the German prison castle Wolfenstein as he carries out a set of minacious tasks against the Nazis.

These consoles were so undeveloped, you wouldn't even be able to play CSGO on it. I mean, have you tried playing Fortnite on a PlayStation? The graphics look like they're from the stone age. And neither is the console able to produce good graphics or cool rapidly. Even though they were one of the best-selling entertainment systems (in the world!), they still wouldn't be able to handle modern games (Wii sports does not count). Games such as Tetris, Sonic the Hedgehog, Doom, Half-Life, were all games that didn't require amazing specs from the device to run. Like the Gameboy advance for example- it's media was a ROM cartridge, a removable memory storage card. It had 3 different types of memory- 32 KB Internal memory (that's the storage size of a photo or half a document), 256 KB external, and an extra 96kb of VRAM (it stores the graphical framebuffer). Its battery life was about 15 hours, depending on other settings like audio, and the type of game pak you are using. It had a pretty small display, although it's CPU functionality was plausible, with an ARM7TDMI @ 16.78 MHz.

Although it's cover art can be deceptive to the eye (graphics-wise), it was a pretty fun game to play at the time. In fact, it's so fun, it has been rated a perfect score on Steam. Of course, Steam is a platform only for laptops, Wolfenstein was available on pretty much every other console at the time. It was available on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the original Xbox, even the Gameboy Advance. Now, we have to keep in mind that these consoles are pretty old. Hence, they weren't technologically advanced, which meant 1080p was a long shot then.

Now, those kind of specs are pretty impressive, but it can also give you an insight as to what games could have been playable at the time (more about that in another blog).
